The Dog Days of Summer

It’s the end of summer and boy is it hot outside!  Our weekdays nights are pretty uneventful for the most part.  Daddy takes you to school in the mornings and mommy picks you up.  You take pretty short naps during the day (because you don’t want to miss out on anything) and so most nights you sleep whenever we get home.  Sometimes I take you for long walks or runs – which you generally sleep through.  Once you wake up, we get you fed, bathed (every other night), read you stories, play and then you go to bed around 8:30 – 9pm.  You wake up at 7:15 and the next day starts.

On the weekends, things are a little less routine.  Last weekend, we worked nonstop on the house.  We are getting closer to being done with the house with each day.  We still workers here a lot but progress is being made and we only have a handful of outstanding things left before we can call the house complete.  We have been really busy getting the pictures on the walls and curtains up.  It’s actually starting to feel like home.

Labor Day was this past weekend and football has begun!  Yay!   On Saturday night, we hosted a bunch of friends over to the house to watch the Texas v North Texas football game.  Texas won!  Your daddy cooked burgers and brats.  The Longs, The Beatties, Allison and the Darnells came over (along with your bud Griffin and soon to be born bud / gal pal – Kristin is just a week away!).  Your Mimi and Papa also came over.  It was your Mimi’s birthday and we had ice cream cupcakes in her honor.  On Sunday, we went to Kirin Court with you Nonnie, Grandad, Brian, Thip, Son, Laura and Alex.  We were celebrating both Thip’s and Son’s birthdays.  After dinner, we went back to Brian and Thip’s house and ate cake and opened presents.  You were great of course.  You took turns sitting on everyone’s lap.

You still haven’t rolled over but I think you think it’s just too much work to do so.  I know you probably could if you wanted to.  You have started splashing your little legs when you are in the bathtub.  You don’t cry when you get up in the morning but have this little chipmunky sound (like a “uh” sound).  You only cry when you are hungry.

You love your bevo pacifiers, the toys off your activity mat, your roll n play and bouncer.  You love to grab at your feet and try to put them in your mouth.  You giggle every time every time we call you a “stinky butt”or if you grab your thighs and call them “chunky.”  Pulling hair…and earrings….and sparkly things oh my!  You love it when we sing you songs like “if you are happy and you know it…”

You still don't like putting clothes on or off.  Mom has to sing you the hokey pokey or the Cookie Monster song to distract you.

Such a handsome guy!

We are slowly getting all of the pictures and furniture for the new house.
