State of Chaos

We moved in!!!  Finally.  The last weekend of July, we got the green light to move in.  Nonnie, Grandad, Alex, Laura, Son, Papa, Mimi and a whole team of movers moved everything from the garage into the house.  I don't know what I would've done without their help.

The first week of August was insane for our entire household.  Although we had made great progress getting a lot of stuff put away, there was still a lot to be done.  Your dad had to go to Austin every day this week and with any change, we had to adjust to mom taking you and dropping you off at school.  Our water got shut off by mistake on Monday night.  On Tuesday night, there was a huge storm and we lost power.  If this says anything about our lives right now, the battery in my car key went out so on Thursday morning when I went to put you in the car, I opened the car with my key and “lost” it.  I searched for over an hour for my keys just to have them be stuck in the car door.  Like always, you roll with the punches.  Nothing seems to get you too upset unless you are hungry or something dramatic happened in your diaper.

The weekend of August 8-10, we took our first overnight trip without you.  It was REALLY hard but we knew you were in good hands.  You had a fabulous weekend at Nonnie and Granddad’s house.  We got pictures of you going to dinner, modeling clothes and smiling throughout your visit.  Mom and Dad went to the River with some of our oldest and bestest friends – the Johnsons, Bronstads and Friends.  Sunday night we were almost giddy driving to McKinney to get you.  You are one high in demand little dude.

Dad had to go out of town again for work the next Monday – Wednesday so mom had you all to herself.  Which she loved.  WE FINALLY got hot water on Tuesday!!!!!  Your 4 month birthday!!!!  You did the honor of having the first shower Tuesday night.  It’s glorious!!!!!  We are finally able to boil water, take hot showers and do laundry.  Mom spent the rest of the week getting caught up.  Thursday night was a stormy night and you and I spent some time on the window seat watching the trees and weather.  Times like this are so precious to me.  I know we will get to the end goal of having everything in order but until then I enjoy these rare moments away from the chaos as much as I can.

Over the weekend, Jasmine and Trey stopped by and we had dinner on Friday night.  You had gone to sleep before they could come over.  You are going through a trend where you no longer sleep through the night so we are having to adjust to you going to sleep earlier and then waking up in the middle of the night.  Saturday night, Greg and Kim and Cyndie and Aaron came over for dinner.  We couldn’t go to their wedding (because Mom and Dad went to George Strait’s last concert – be sure to tell your friends that someday buddy.  They will be impressed).  Greg had never met you and so he promptly picked you up and then you drooled all over his nice white shirt!  Hahaha.  But they loved seeing you.

Monday, this past week, you met your cousins from Boston – Lisa, Lars and Wendy.  You also got to see your Great Aunt Karen, Uncle Don, Daddy D and Momma D.  They commented how you are the BEST baby!  You never cried and we went to lunch for over an hour.  Since things have settled for us somewhat in the house, we had a ton of workers coming through Friday of last week through this week – painting, plumbing, fixing cracks and tile.  The house looks like we have moved in all over again.  Hang in there buddy.  It won’t always be this crazy.

You have discovered your activity bouncer!  You spend hours turning the pages and playing with the animal sounds.  You love food.  Of course.  You are kind of digging Sophie the giraffe.  Kind of.  This is a new thing.
