A lot of firsts

One of the many reasons why I love Texas is that you can still swim in late September.

There was swimming but first your dad drove a freaking race car!  For 8 minutes.  At a blazing speed of 150 MPH at the Texas Motor Speedway Racetrack.  Your dad is so cool.

Afterwards, we loaded all of our swim gear – like my entire truck was full – and headed to Jasmine and Trey’s (and dog Jack – who you were mesmerized with) to see their great new apartment near the Galleria and go swimming.  The water was a little cool and there was a small section of the pool that still had sunlight on it when we got in but we made the most of that sliver of summer.  You floated in your little swimmy and loved it.  After you got tired of the swimmy, you let me hold on to you sitting to the side of the pool.  And then we completed our pool tub in the hot tub.  I again held you on the side.  After we got out of the pool, we headed to Gloria’s for some grub.  It was an excellent night.  On Sunday, we headed to Gigi’s house to celebrate Carson’s birthday and eat some pizza.  We also got to pick up our little kitty Missy.  Finally our little family is back together and moved in to our new house.

This past week has been very exciting because it’s included a lot of firsts for you mister.

Starting with your first ear infection.  Your little cough and runny nose had gotten progressively worse and worse.  So, we made the decision to take you to the doctor.  I picked you up early from school and took you to Dr. Hamner.  One look at you and she could tell you weren’t feeling good at all.  Turns out you had an inner ear infection in the right ear and we started you on antibiotics.  So that was not good but you were weighing in at 18 lbs 13 oz (a full 2 lbs from your 4 month appointment).  Hefty!  That same day, we decided to try you on solid foods.  So, we broke out some rice cereal.  At first you weren’t really sure about this goopity goo but after a few spoonfuls, you really liked it!  Best kid ever.  The next day, you sat up on your own.  Then, two days later you rolled over by yourself.  If you crawl tomorrow, I wouldn’t be surprised.  You are crushing your milestones buddy.  We took away the longhorn pacifier.  You don't seem to mind.

Today has been especially special for me.  I worked from home.  Got to keep you at home.  And your dad (who unfortunately was sick) was also at home.  It was such a great day to be together as a family on a work date :)
