Probst in Fredricksburg and NYE in Big D

The day after Christmas, we packed up about a million things (including you) and drove to Fredricksburg (about 4 ½ hours south).  I went there with some girlfriends back in July and we had such a great time.  I wanted your dad to see it.  On our way down there, we stopped off at Enchanted Rock to do some hiking up.  The hill looks alien like, completely out of place and is some kind of rock that is typically not exposed on the Earth’s crust.  When you see it, you do feel like you are walking on the moon.  The Rock was especially crowded the day we were there but it was nice to get out of the car and hike a bit.  You rode up much of the hill on your dad’s shoulders.  Once we reached the top, you are welcomed to a fantastic view of the hill country side.  It was such a pretty, clear day.  It was great to be on top of the world!

Afterwards we checked into our hotel and then headed downtown to eat dinner.  We went to this great German restaurant where there was a concert venue in the back so you could watch a live band while waiting for your table…which we did.  Dinner was great.  We got several different types of sausage.  You, of course, got a nice, tasty bottle.  Most of the shops were closed whenever we finished dinner so we just headed back to the hotel so you could frog around and we could put you to bed.  You are full out frogging it now.  You are FAST!  You can get from one side of the room to the other fairly quickly.  The next morning, we got up and ate breakfast at the hotel and then we did some shopping on main street.  We bought some great items for the house like a mirror for the guest room and a peacock fairy for your mom’s growing collection.  Then, we went to the wineries.  We started at 4.0, where we had some pizza and saw a band.  Then we went to Hilmy, where you fell in love with the winery dog.  We wrapped up our tour at Grape Creek.  You were such a good baby.  You napped while we went shopping but loved all of the action of the wine tasting.  For dinner, we went to a restaurant mom went to before called Navajo Grill.  It was delicious.  After dinner, we got you home and tucked you into bed.  You were zonked out after all of the activity of the day.  In fact, we all were.  On Sunday, we got up and went to breakfast on the main street and then started the long drive home.  It was a great little family vaca to Texas wine country.

I was not feeling well at all when we got back to town so I went to the doctor.  Turns out I had a lovely case of bronchitis.  On the 31st, my 35th birthday, I was feeling much better so we went ahead and went to dinner with our friends, Jas, Trey, Jason, Courtney and Allison.  We went to Nick and Sams for dinner, which was incredible, and then we all came back to the house where we met the Moons.  We all got changed into pajamas and played an epic match of Pictionary and Cards Against Humanity breaking of course to toast in the New Year at midnight.  Gigi watched you for dinner and you were out like a light – never woke up during the game playing.  You rock at sleeping (once you are asleep).  The next morning, we got up and ate kolaches and breakfast tacos, drank coffee and just hung out.  It was so much fun having such a big sleep over.  It was a great way to end 2014.

You are such an active guy now.  You love to point at everything and say “ah duh.”  You still pop up bottom lip out all the time and it’s so cute.  You got a zillion toys for Christmas that your dad put together for you.  You love to rock out to your rock band set and you love to fling the bug on the cute little elephant walker.  You like your chasing kitty!  It never fails, whenever you catch the kitty, you knock her to the ground (to which the toy creepily says “you caught me!”)  Your favorite toys right now is “Dylan” bear (a super soft bear with your name embroidered on it) and a Connecticut husky dog – both you literally tackle whenever you see.  You love door stops.  We have had to dismantle many of our door stops because otherwise you have figured out how to take them off the wall.  You have learned how to sit yourself up in the crib and we laugh as we see you frog around in your crib once we turn the lights off.  You sleep with your cute butt up in the air, face planted on the bed.  You love to take pictures – such a ham for the camera, always “cheesing.”  You bop up and down when you like something and smile big (of course).  You are such a laid back, very happy baby and we are just so lucky to be your parents.
