Welcome home buddy!

Welcome home buddy

The first couple days of your life were spent in the busy hospital.

You had an endless entourage of nurses, doctors, sweet friends and proud family that would come in to see you. One of our favorite nurses was Macey, who worked in the nursery and would come in to help us feed you. Your lactation consultant, Beth, was also a huge help to us. Dr. Hagood did your circumcision and Dr. Hamner (your pediatrician) came three times to visit you.

You are truly a loved by with so many friends and family that were excited to meet you. The first family members to meet you were Nonnie, Grandad, Uncles Brian Alex and Son, and Aunts Laura and Thip. Daddy D and Mommy D met you Sunday afternoon. Mimi and Papa, Gigi and Aunt Paige came to see you Sunday evening.

On Monday, Nonnie and Aunt Laura came to see you for lunch. Cyndie, Jasmine and Trey came in the evening as well as Mimi and Papa and Uncle Carson. Monday you also got your first sponge bath (4/14) which you hated. You also had your first photo shoot. The hospital had a photographer onsite that took pictures of you from the end of my bed. You are such an adorable little boy already!

Tuesday was a busy day for visitors. Sue, (cousins) Beth, Matt, Elizabeth and your Great Aunt Phyllis stopped by as well as Mommy D and Uncle Don. Gigi came in to relieve your dad so that he could go to a work function on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, Mommy D came again so that you could meet your Great Grandma Nonnie who is 97 years old! Nonnie came in the afternoon to help us pack up andleave. We brought you home Wednesday afternoon. You left the hospital weighing 7 lbs. 13 oz.

We spent much of Wednesday and Thursday just getting to you. On Friday, we went to your first doctor’s appointment at Dr. Hamner’s. The appointment consisted of taking your measurements (your weight stayed the same at 7 lbs 13 oz – so feeding was working! Yay!). Your coloring was a little yellow even though you were at low risk for jaundice so Dr. Hamner recommended sitting you by a window whenever we had the chance. Also, because of how your foot was in the womb, your right foot turned slightly inward like a little frog. Dr. Hamner was not worried about it and suggested that we stretch your foot out each day and that it would correct itself.

On Saturday, you got to see your Grandad again as well as your Great Uncle M. You passed out on your Grandad. He held you for over an hour and you didn’t wake up once. Saturday night, Cyndie and Aaron came by to bring us chicken spaghetti. Cyndie nicknamed you Pickle early on when I was pregnant. She loved rocking you to sleep.

You love your bunny swing that the hostesses from the couples shower gave to you. It’s the saving grace that lets us sleep at night.  When you aren't sleeping in the swing, you nap in the beautiful bassinet that your Papa made for you. We moved the bassinet from the guest room into our room.  You just love to be swaddled. Although you are a little Houdini and can always get your hands free no matter how tight you are wrapped.  You love to sleep on your daddy’s chest. You watched the Texas Spring football game perched high on top of daddy.  You just love to sleep. We know when you are about to get up because you start squeaking like a cute little mouse.

You HATE to get your diaper changed! You turn bright red and cry loudly!  You are not a fan of BATHS! You hate to be wet and scream bloody murder.  You did not like learning how to breast feed. You make this screeching pterodactyl sound.  When something startles you, your hands do this cute Frankenstein thing.
