It's Fall!

The last two weekends in October, we enjoyed the cooler fall weather outside.  We ran several times with you around the neighborhood, went to dinner, pulled out all of the fall decorations, planted flowers, found our new favorite kolache place Bohemian CafĂ© and went to Nonnie and Grandad’s house to carve pumpkins.  Your mom and dad did see Paul McCartney on October 13th.  It was a great date night and a concert that we are sure to talk about for months to come.

You are becoming much more active.  You are rolling around much more and are kind of a wild man when you are sitting.  You also have started screeching and babbling which is so cute.  You love to smile and say “bababa” or “dadada.”  You love to giggle.  You especially like playing peek a boo with mom or dad.  You are very ticklish on the tops of your thighs and love it when we tickle you.  You love Missy Cat.  You love to “pet” her (aka grab a huge hunk of her hair).  You are eating more foods such as mangos, carrots and green beans (which you hate).  You really like sweet foods such as the fruits.  Your teachers are feeding you at school so you are getting a lot of REAL food buddy.

You chat up a storm with your mom and dad whenever you can.  You are starting to grab for everything (and then putting everything in your mouth).  You LOVE Missy Cat.  You smile and squeal when you see her.  You love to "pet" her (and by pet I mean grabbing a big clump of hair).  You FINALLY love baths.  You even cry now when we take you out.

You are starting to really fight us when we put you to bed.  You wake up promptly at 7:15 AM no matter what time you finally drift to sleep.

TX OU and meeting Cousin Doug

Texas OU is one of your mom and dad’s favorite weekends of the year.  This year your Dad’s cousin Doug flew in from Washington DC for the festivities.  Your dad played in his annual golf tournament on Friday during the day.  I worked from home so I got to keep you at home.  You are such a joy to work with.  You love to play in your activity center and sleep (most of the time) during mom’s conference calls.  Gigi babysat you on Friday night.  She had so much fun playing with different toys with you.  She also brought you one of my favorite childhood books called “the Five Little Pumpkins.”  On Friday night, your dad and I went down the street to the Murrell’s house for dinner and then drove to the Toad and the Frog for the Texas Exes tailgate.  It was a great turn out even though it was rainy.  We met Vince Young that night and got to stand in the VIP section because your dad is kind of a big deal with the Texas Exes group.  Doug and his friend Jamie met us at the bar.  Also, Thip and Brian stopped by.

The Texas OU game is always super early.  Doug and Jamie met us at the house around 8 AM and one of mom’s best friends Allison stopped by right after.  We drove to the fair and got lucky finding a spot pretty close to the front entrance.  We spent some time at the Texas Exes tailgate where Brian and Thip met us there.  We caught up with many of dad’s friends.  Around 10:30, we went to the game.  I sat with Allison and your dad sat with Jeremy Brown.  During half time, Allison and I found Doug and Jamie but we never could connect with your dad.  We told him to meet us at the dumpsters, but then the dumpsters moved and your dad was nowhere to be found.  We were able to go sit with him during the 3rd quarter.  It’s always so much fun watching Texas games with your dad.  Texas Longhorn football is one of his passions.  The game was way closer than most thought.  Texas is rebuilding this year after Charlie Strong took over for Mack Brown as coach.  Oklahoma ended up squeaking by – the score was 31 to 26.

After the game, we stayed and played at the fair.  We rode bumper cars, the swings and this haunted house ride that your mom and Allison used to ride when we were little.  We ate corny dogs and fried potato skins and played a lot of games.  Your dad won you a minion.  I won you a snake.  You like the snake better for the record.  You stayed the day and night with Mimi and Papa.  Your dad got up early Sunday morning and went to get you.  It was so weird to wake up and not have you at home.  After your dad got back, we went to breakfast at Buzzbrews.  It was such a fun weekend!  We can’t wait to share this tradition with you.

You had your 6 month checkup and you are growing like a weed.  You have gained 2 more pounds and are weighing in at over 18 pounds!
You love our daily strolls.  You never miss a meal and you love to "talk."

You still don't love being strapped in your car seat.  I don't think you will ever like that.  You tried green beans for the first time and HATED them.  You spit them out promptly.

6 Month Old Pictures

Cannot believe you are half a year old!  Here are some great pictures mom's friend Ashley took of you.
